Careful with whom or what you pray to;
an invitation for another to prey on you.
Idols, fallen preachers & false teachers;
energy-sucking leechers, vile creatures.
As the vampires of our ancient folklore;
eager, awaiting a willingly-opened door.
Ever seeking for an unprotected centre,
lacking integrity to sort what may enter.
Tranquil, abiding with a fistful of phone,
enchanted by this dazzling screen-light,
lullabied by the sweet notification tone;
requiem for virtual dream to take flight!
Sensations going wild as it finally rings,
the loyal ear rushes valiantly to its side;
eager, anticipating any gossip it brings!
Alas, the salesman had little to confide.
Too little and there will be naught to learn,
yet too much and the ordeal will only burn.
Still we must dance on this edge of a blade,
and arise again whenever we have strayed.
“Just enough” means exactly what we say:
do what is right, in the most balanced way.
